Vaccination programme for housebound residents
Housebound residents will receive a Covid-19 vaccine within their own home or place of residence. A special ‘roving team’ of vaccinators is delivering the service to housebound residents.
The ‘roving team’ is made up of healthcare staff, GPs and nurses. The team will be fully equipped and will carry out vaccinations in the quickest and safest way possible.
A resident is deemed to be housebound when they are unable to leave their home environment through physical and/or psychological illness. Those who are housebound will have been identified by their registered GP.
Housebound residents will receive this letter informing them that they are eligible for a Covid-19 vaccination. Details of how your appointment will be arranged will be in the letter. The ‘roving team’ or their GP will contact them to arrange their appointment. If you are housebound or know someone who is housebound, who has not received a letter, please call the vaccination booking line on 0115 883 4640.
If a resident is able to attend a vaccination site with the right support, there is transport available to those who meet eligibility criteria. This will be provided by volunteer drivers and taxis. If a resident also needs any addition help for example a wheelchair or a volunteer to help get them in and out of a vehicle then they can request this service when they call the booking line.
